IRGC launches missiles at U.S. base; Central Command says all intercepted

U.S. Central Command confirms attack on U.S. base

U.S. Central Command said on the 28th that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles at a U.S. military base in the Middle East in a surprise attack. It said all of the missiles were intercepted.

Jordan base may have been target

According to the U.S. news site Axios, the target was a U.S. military base in Jordan. U.S. Central Command said, 'The U.S. military remains on alert.'

Tensions persist amid ceasefire speculation

U.S. President Donald Trump had halted airstrikes on Iran's military facilities and other targets from the 24th after carrying them out for 13 days through the 23rd, and had shown a willingness to talk with Iran. Ballistic missile attacks from Iran had also stopped after the 24th, but the focus is on whether Trump will resume military action.

The United States is pressing Iran to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and abandon nuclear development, while Iran insists on full control over the strait and has not softened its hard line.
