Moonshot AI Seen Valued Above $30 Billion in Hong Kong Listing Plan

Chinese artificial intelligence startup Moonshot AI is planning to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange within as little as six months, Bloomberg News reported on the 19th. The company could be valued at more than $30 billion, or about 4.9 trillion yen, the report said.

Market reaction to Kimi K3

Moonshot AI unveiled its new model, Kimi K3, on the 17th. It is said to rank just behind the latest models introduced about a month earlier by U.S. Anthropic and U.S. OpenAI, weighing on the Nasdaq Composite and other indexes with heavy exposure to tech shares.

Listing race among Chinese AI startups

Bloomberg also reported that Moonshot AI had sent existing shareholders a resolution seeking approval for the listing. It said the company sees an opportunity to raise funds from capital markets even as it rattles global technology stocks.

Among Chinese AI startups, Beijing Zhipu Huazhang Technology, or Zhipu AI, and MiniMax Group listed in Hong Kong in January. More recently, DeepSeek has also been reported to be advancing listing plans on the Chinese mainland, with reports saying it is targeting Shanghai's STAR Market, which is aimed at high-tech startups, with a filing for a listing within this year in view. DeepSeek is said to be preparing to raise funds separately from any listing, and reports have put its valuation at $71 billion. Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 exceeds DeepSeek's latest model by 75% in the number of parameters, a performance benchmark. Depending on market reaction, Moonshot AI's valuation could rise further.
