Spain beat France 2-0 to reach World Cup final
Spain sealed a commanding win to book its place in the final.
Dominant in attack and defence
Spain, bidding for a first World Cup title in four tournaments, beat France 2-0 in the North and Central America World Cup semi-final in Dallas on the 14th. Spain controlled the match in attack and defence to reach the final.
First-half lead, second-half cushion
Midway through the first half, Yamal was brought down inside the penalty area and won a spot kick. Oyarzabal calmly converted to put Spain ahead. In the 58th minute, Polo added a second after breaking through from a one-two pass. France struggled to win the ball and Mbappe and others were unable to get into shooting positions as Spain's tight defence held firm. France pushed harder in the closing stages but could not score. Losing defensive mainstay Saliba to injury midway through the first half was also a setback.
