Risk of linear rain bands in northern Kyushu, very heavy rain through the 6th
Very heavy rain is expected to fall intermittently in northern Kyushu through the 6th as warm, moist air flows toward a front. Linear rain bands could develop in Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki and Kumamoto prefectures, and the Japan Meteorological Agency is urging caution over landslides, flooding in low-lying areas and rising river levels.
Possible from late morning to early afternoon in four prefectures
The window during which linear rain bands could occur in the four prefectures is from late morning to early afternoon on the 5th. The 24-hour rainfall expected by 6 a.m. on the 6th is as much as 150 mm in some areas, and if linear rain bands form, rainfall could intensify further locally.
