On June 18, Ukrainian forces carried out their largest-ever drone attack on the Russian capital, Moscow. They also targeted oil-related facilities and logistics bases inside Russia and in areas under its control, raising the possibility that the Russian side took countermeasures.
Damage in Kyiv in June as well
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned the public on July 1, saying there was intelligence that Russia was preparing a large-scale attack. Russian forces also struck locations across Ukraine with missiles and drones from the night of June 14 into the early hours of June 15, damaging apartment blocks and other buildings in Kyiv, killing five people and injuring more than 30. A fire also broke out at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
