Berkshire adds Mitsui, Marubeni shares, holdings top 10%
Berkshire Hathaway was found on the day to have increased its holdings in Mitsui & Co and Marubeni respectively. Its stakes in the outstanding shares stood at 10.83% for Mitsui & Co and 10.32% for Marubeni.
Holdings rise
The disclosure came the same day when Berkshire's wholly owned unit, National Indemnity Company, filed a report on changes with the Kanto Local Finance Bureau. Its previous holdings were 9.82% in Mitsui & Co and 9.30% in Marubeni, both acquired by June 24 and 25.
Trading house holdings emerged in 2020
Berkshire's holdings in Japanese trading house shares became known around the summer of 2020. Mitsui & Co and Marubeni had announced that Berkshire's shareholding had exceeded 10% on a voting-rights basis.
