LY Corp. pivots to AI-led development, targeting 10% productivity gain
LY Corporation said on the 29th that it will accelerate its shift to a structure in which artificial intelligence (AI) leads system development. The company will coordinate development teams with support units such as planning and legal affairs to streamline the process through to service launch. It is initially aiming to raise development productivity by 10%.
Redesigning the development process
The company explained the plan at a technology presentation in Tokyo on the same day. It will review how each domain is involved in system development and reduce duplicated work. The development flow itself will be reorganized so AI can continue working without interruption.
Reviewing 30% of work on the assumption of AI use
It has set a path to review about 30% of related processes on the assumption that AI will be used. The company expects the time needed to roll out services can be cut by about 13%. By 2027, it will gradually shift each domain to work procedures premised on AI use.
Setting metrics and guidelines
It has also established guidelines for using AI tools. The company will quantify their contribution to productivity gains using coefficients, and manage operations with four metrics that include not only the time to deliver services but also how quickly software can be delivered safely. It will move to an AI-led development structure while strictly managing costs.
In July 2025, the company announced a plan to double productivity over the next three years through the use of generative AI in operations. The latest shift in its development structure will also serve as a pillar in achieving that goal.
