Trump says he asked Takaichi about Japan's Iran role
U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 17th that he had asked Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi whether Japan would be involved in military operations against Iran and that she had declined. He also said he had not strongly pressed Japan to take part.

He spoke at a press conference after the Group of Seven summit concluded in France, where he was visiting. Trump said, 'I asked her if she'd like to get involved a little,' adding that Takaichi replied, 'I don't want to get involved.'
Expresses frustration with Europe
Trump said that not only Japan but other European G7 members had also avoided cooperation during the fighting. He said that while 'everyone wants to get involved' now, he was 'a little disappointed.'
Praises Takaichi
As for Takaichi, he said she was 'a big fan of mine' and 'doing a great job,' showing an approving stance.
