Kanto-Koshin and Tokai enter rainy season, slightly late to average

Japan Meteorological Agency announces start of rainy season in Kanto-Koshin and Tokai

On the 7th, the Japan Meteorological Agency said Kanto-Koshin is believed to have entered the rainy season. The timing is in line with the average year and 16 days later than last year. A stationary front and inflow of moist air are expected to continue, and rainy and cloudy days will increase over the next week.

Tokai also enters rainy season

The agency said on the same day that Tokai has also entered the rainy season. The timing was one day later than average and 21 days later than last year.

Summer rainfall seen near average

In its three-month forecast for June to August, precipitation in eastern Japan is expected to be broadly in line with the average year. Nationwide, warm air is likely to cover the country, and temperatures are forecast to exceed the seasonal average.

Heatstroke precautions needed

According to the Japan Weather Association, humidity is high during the rainy season and sweat does not evaporate easily, making it easier for heat to build up in the body. As the risk of heatstroke rises, people are advised to replenish water and salt regularly and use air conditioning to lower indoor temperatures.
