Hezbollah headquarters targeted
Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz also issued statements, saying the military had targeted the headquarters of the pro-Iranian group Hezbollah in Lebanon. It said Hezbollah's command functions are concentrated in the southern suburbs of Beirut, and the Israeli side described the strike as retaliation for attacks by Hezbollah.
Rocket attack and exchange
According to the Israel Defense Forces, Hezbollah attacked northern Israel with rockets on the morning of the 7th, before the strike on Beirut. The military said it destroyed the rocket launchers.
Calls for a ceasefire continue
Netanyahu warned Hezbollah on the 7th, 'We will not allow attacks on our territory or communities, and if there are attacks, we will act accordingly.'
Iran is seeking a ceasefire in Lebanon as a condition for ending its fighting with the United States. The U.S. State Department announced a ceasefire on the 3rd, but the actual fighting continues. Hezbollah leader Sheikh Qassem also said he would 'continue the resistance,' and Israel says it is being forced to respond in kind.
