State attorneys general open probe into costly World Cup tickets
The attorneys general of New York and New Jersey said on the 27th that they had launched an investigation into what they described as the high cost of tickets for the soccer World Cup, which opens next month. They asked the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to provide information on ticket sales.
Questions over ticket pricing
Eight matches are scheduled in New Jersey, including the final. Fans have repeatedly complained that prices are too high, and FIFA has said it uses dynamic pricing that changes according to demand.
The statement also referred to reports that FIFA's explanation of seating and its sales methods may have contributed to the price increases.
