U.S. military strikes drone site in southern Iran again

Reuters reported on the 27th that the U.S. military had launched another attack on a ground control site for drones in Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. According to Iranian media, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has retaliated by targeting a U.S. air base, and the exchange between the two sides is continuing.

Attack followed standoff in the Strait of Hormuz

According to Reuters, the U.S. military moved to strike after a standoff between an American oil tanker trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and the Revolutionary Guard. The report cited Tasnim news agency, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. No information on casualties has been reported.

U.S. official says strike was self-defense

According to Reuters, a U.S. official described the renewed strike as 'restrained and purely defensive, intended to preserve the ceasefire.' Iran's Fars news agency reported on the 28th that the Revolutionary Guard had launched a retaliatory attack on a U.S. military base. The country hosting the base was not known. On the same day, Kuwait's military said attacks including missile strikes had occurred in the country, but no link to retaliatory attacks by Iran has been confirmed.

The United States also said on the 25th that it had attacked Iran for 'self-defense.' It said the targets included ships attempting to lay mines and missile launch sites. The Iranian side condemned this as a 'ceasefire violation' and indicated the possibility of retaliation.
